Brief Profile:

The Department of Chemistry, which was established in the year 1957 is situated on the 3rd floor of the college building having built up area of 9500 sq. ft. and scenic surroundings with a bird eye view of the city. It started offering Chemistry as one of the subjects for undergraduate course from the academic session 1962-63. M.Sc. Chemistry, which is a self-financed course was started in the year 2002. Chemistry department is a recognised research centre of the RashtrasantTukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. There are currently 05 permanent teaching staffs. Besides, there are 11 Contributory and Ad-Hoc teaching staffs are working in the department. They are assisted by 06 Non-teaching Staffs.  There are about 450 Students learning Chemistry in UG and PG courses. 

The Department of Chemistry houses 04 general Laboratories, 01 instrumentation laboratory, 01 Store stacked with lab-wares, 04 Classrooms and 01 Staff-room. The students of chemistry have ready access to the departmental library, shelved with 280 titles of many fields of chemistry. The department also has large collection of electronic books which are accessible to students.   Staffs of the Department has published research papers in many Journals of National and International repute. The faculty members have authored 6 text books for the B.Sc. students of RashtrasantTukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.   Practical Manuals have been published by the department for internal circulation.
